The aroma of gingerbread and baked apples wafting through the air in the Schmelzhof is a sure sign – Christmas is just around the corner. This year is going to be a Christmas with a difference, one which will, undoubtedly, include a yearning for a return to our carefree lives. Material things will take more of a back seat. The greatest gifts will be time and space, pristine natural surroundings, fresh air, long walks in the winter wonderland. Maybe rekindling memories by building a snowman. Or ice skating. Letting your mind come to rest and looking forward to the promise of a new and better year.

The Schmelzhof offers a world of warmth, relaxation and culinary pleasures. This year our festivities will be lower key and, of course, with physical distancing. The safety of our guests takes top priority. We have given this much thought and are, for example, opening our à la carte restaurant Gittis Esszimmer and the Blue Bar for resident hotel guests only this winter. We have also decided to waive our usual closing day and we’ll be offering a fantastic lunch menu. That way, we can offer our Schmelzhof guests a ‘safe haven’ all day, seven days a week.

In the Schmelzhof, the two weeks between Christmas and Epiphany (6th January) are the high spot of every winter season.
