FAQs – Frequently asked questions from our guests
We’re concerning ourselves with how we can make the Schmelzhof even safer for our guests. Our claim is to implement measures that go beyond the statutory provisions. Towards our guests we have a great responsibility and will do everything in our power to live up to that responsibility.
It is understandable that our guests have a lot of questions at the moment. The most frequently asked questions regarding Covid-19 are summarized here, and we also provide the answers. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us personally.
Questions and answers concerning Covid-19
1) Award Covid Secure Hospitality
This summer we received the label of Covid secure hospitality. To obtain this label we have to follow certain guidelines of the WKO, which also includes the testing of our employees. Each of us is tested weekly in the hotel. You can find more information here:
2) Cable cars
- Face masks must be worn in all train/lift buildings, in queuing areas and during all train/lift journeys.
- Employees in contact with customers at the lifts and cable cars are tested for Covid-19 before starting work for the first time – regular or event-related follow-up tests are planned.
- In addition, employees with guest contact are instructed to wear a face mask.Further information can be found directly at the Ski Arlberg Homepage.
3) Check in and check out
Before your departure we ask you to send us all necessary personal information by mail. Additionally you will receive our new digital guest folder in form of a QR code. Thus you can book everything in advance from home and get information all around the hotel and Lech.
In order to avoid unnecessary waiting time on the day of your departure, we kindly ask you to settle your bill by 22.30 the evening before. You can also pay us contactless.
4) Corona suspicion/case
In case of suspicion of corona, the following procedures apply in the hotel:
- The guest as well as contact person 1 (fellow traveller) are requested to stay in the room
- In the meantime, we will take care of the meals and drinks
- A test is made in the hotel and analysed within about 24 hours
- If the result is negative, you can leave the room and return to your normal activities
- If the results are positive, a decision is made on how to proceed
– Quarantine in the hotel or
– Guarded return transport
5) Entry requirements
Until your vacation, the entry requirements may change several times. Please check before your arrival, which requirements have to be met in order to be able to spend your vacation in Austria.
6) Hygienic measures in the Schmelzhof
- Disinfectant dispensers are distributed throughout the house in useful places
- The cleaning intervals are decreased
- All rooms are regularly disinfected and aired
- After each departure the room is additionally disinfected with an atomizer of the German company Menke Med.
- Door handles are disinfected regularly
- Ventilation systems are tested and technically at the latest standard
7) Your Schmelzhof team
- Our trained Schmelzhof team is committed to the protection of our own and others’ health and to adherence to the hygiene and distance regulations
- All our employees are tested weekly for COVID-19
- For your safety, our employees wear a face mask or acrylic glass panes are provided.
8) Childcare at the Villa Kunterbunt
In our Villa Kunterbunt your little ones are looked after by a nanny from 4 pm to 9 pm. Our local disinfectants from the company named Wasseralm are also specially made for children – alcohol- and aldehyde-free.
9) Culinary around the clock
- Our traditional breakfast buffet will no longer be available in that form this winter, now all the delights will be served to your table
- This year at lunchtime we offer you an extensive à la carte menu, from which you can spoil yourself daily from 12.30 pm on
- For the safety of our guests, our kitchen is foregoing the day off this winter. On Tuesday evening we serve a traditional cheese fondue, raclette or a delicious pasta. Now you can also dine in the Schmelzhof on Tuesdays.
- Gittis dining room and the Blue Bar are only reserved for our hotel guests, “Hotel guests only” is our theme this year – so your safety is even more guaranteed
10) #together - COVID-19
- Please do not forget your face mask in the public areas. Exceptions: at the table and in the SPA (as per December 2020)
- Please keep a distance of at least 1 meter to other people
- Everyone needs fresh air – please support us by airing your room more often
- Please inform us by phone as soon as you feel ill
11) Schmelzhof spa and fitness room
- Our 400 m² wellness area and our fitness room are still available for you.
- In addition, you can enjoy our massage and St. Barth treatments as usual in compliance with the new hygiene and safety regulations.
- In our saunas, steam bath and infrared cabin the number of persons is reduced.
- You do not have to wear the face mask here.
- Nevertheless, please pay attention to the recommended rules of conduct.
12) Better safe than sorry / Insurance

Despite the obliging cancellation conditions, we also recommend you to conclude the travel cancellation insurance for Euro 60,– per person and week. It does not only covers the cancellation costs in case of a COVID-19 illness, but also for 12 other cancellation reasons.

Winter codex Vorarlberg
In addition, Vorarlberg has now concluded a Covid-19 cancellation insurance for all guest bookings in the 2020/21 winter season. This means that those guests who cannot arrive due to a COVID-19 illness or ordered quarantine, the cancellation fees up to Euro 3.000,– per person will be covered.
13) Stop Corona App
This app records the encounters using digital handshakes. If one of the persons reports sick, all persons recorded as contacted in the last two days are informed. The app also contains additional information material on the corona virus. The Stop Corona app has been reviewed and rated safe by 3 different data protection companies (SBA Research, NOYB, Epicenter.works), consisting of hackers, data protection activists and consumer protection organizations.
14) Cancellation conditions
In special times like these, we have adapted our cancellation conditions for you. You should be able to plan your vacation carefree and enjoy the anticipation to the full.
Our new cancellation conditions:
- Instead of the usual 3 months, you can cancel free of charge up to 5 weeks before your arrival. This applies also for bookings already made.
- You can cancel your reservation 48 hours before your arrival if one of these reasons is given:a. Lech / Zürs has been categorized as a risk areab. Due to COVID-19 no ski operation is possible in Lech / ZürsWe would charge you 30% of the total cost of the trip, which you can use as a voucher for your next stay with us.
- You can cancel or rebook free of charge at any time if– Lech or your place of residence is quarantined during the period of the planned vacation– The stay is not possible due to governmental instructions
